A Day of “Intergenerational Healing”

Intergenerational healing is an aspect of Jesus’ ministry of healing He gave to the church. While some of the problems with which we suffer started with us, others come to us from previous generations. While we are often blessed to inherit good things from our forebears, sometimes we’re the unfortunate inheritors of a negative legacy.

It’s obvious this is true with things physical. We can inherit physical virtues (Pearson men have great stamina, for example), but we can also inherit physical problems (cancer runs in some families, for example). The recent discovery of DNA is simply science catching up with observations people have made for centuries.

What about inheriting propensities to certain good attitudes and actions? Or bad ones? Is it ALWAYS because of how one was raised or could there be an inheritance factor?

I would argue that sometimes our bad attitudes, our vulnerability to certain temptations, and our improper, even evil actions can be inherited. Why do I believe that?

*Some children raised in good and godly homes turn out bad and some children in bad homes turn out good and godly … so it can’t be just how they were nurtured. Something has been passed along from previous generations.

*What about children adopted at birth that much more resemble their birth parents than their adoptive parents? So it can’t be just nurture. Something has been passed along from previous generations.

So what do we do about this?

(a) take authority in the name of Jesus to cut bondages and ties;

(b) forgive those in our past (whether we know them or not) from whom we have inmherited the negatives;

(c) fill with Jesus “the house now swept clean”. Remember, we’ve been delivered FROM that which is bad for us and others so we can be delivered UNTO God and the good things He has in store for us to enjoy and pass on to others.

We’ve got a day long workshop on Intergenerational Healing coming up on Saturday, May 15, 2010.

(Specific location, somewhere in southeastern New Hampshire / northeastern Massachusetts, to be announced.) Watch this web site for updates.

Leader is the Rev. Canon Mark A. Pearson assisted by others with healing ministries. Canon Mark has led numerous of these Intergenerational Healing days around the country.

Beloved in Jesus, We’ve been in the new building for seven months now and love it! Thanks be to God and thanks to so many of you for your prayers and financial support. The building is beautiful and it enables lots more ministry to take place. Besides the Christian whole person healing ministry (medicine, massage, counseling, prayer), we have a Christian Twelve Step program called Overcomers, two midweek Bible studies, and a midweek service with available healing prayer. Here’s the schedule:

MIDWEEK EVENTS at 80 Route 125, Kingston, NH

*Tuesdays, 7:00 p.m., Service of Worship — a time of singing, Holy Communion — and Bible study. Prayer ministry available at the end.

*Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. starting August 5 — Women’s Bible Study.

*Wednesdays, 7:00 p.m., Overcomers — a Christian Twelve Step program. This ministry starts again September 16. Call Bob at (978) 257-5193.

*Thursdays, 12:15 p.m., Service of Worship. On the first, second, fourth and fifth Thursdays it’s a service of Holy Communion, brief teaching by Canon Mark, and prayer ministry available at the end. Please note, this will not be held on July 30. On the third Thursday of the month it’s a non sacramental service of prayer and music with guest teaching by a minister or priest or ministry lay leader from the area or else by a member of the staff.

We welcome you to attend any of these events. You do not need to call ahead. Each week’s event is self-contained so you do not have to sign up for several weeks or not attend knowing you might miss a week.

All of these events are held at our new building, 80 Route 125, Kingston, NH. Where’s that? Kingston is in the southeastern part of New Hampshire, an hour north of Boston and 45 minutes southeast of Manchester, NH. From the south, take Interstate 495 to exit 51-B and come ahead seven miles. From the north, get off New Hampshire Route 101 at the Epping/Brentwood exit and head south around 10 miles.

SUNDAYS

And, we welcome you to visit us on Sundays. We have a worship service every Sunday at 2 p.m. using the facilities of the Newton Junction Baptist Church. On the following Sundays we have a special healing emphasis in the service — July 5, August 9, September 6. Please note, while the healing service is usually on the first Sunday of the month it is not ALWAYS on the first Sunday, so check your I.C.R. Newsletter or this web site.

We’re worshiping God and preaching His Word on the other Sundays of the month as well. A team of two people are available after the service for personal ministry.

Newton Junction Baptist Church is not far from our new building. Just south of the new building on Route 125 is a big intersection with traffic light. Turn onto Newton Junction Road (you don’t have to ask, ‘which way?’ because Newton Junction Road is the eastern cross street and Hunt Road the western one). Come ahead 1.3 miles and there’s the church.

SUMMER PROGRESS

We’re happily in the new building and from our windows watching four different projects unfold. First is the pump and pump house so our fire sprinkler system can be operable. In a town with no city water and no full time paid fire department this is essential. Second is a building generator. When the power goes out (something which happens frequently in southern New Hampshire winters) we want to continue to function, important since no one has yet figured out how to postpone being sick or hurting. Third is a memorial garden to my dad, the late Deacon Hedley Pearson. Fourth is the chapel on the pond. Eventually there’ll be a prayer walk coming from the building down to the pond (about a five minute walk) culminating with this chapel.

WHAT’S AT THE TOP OF THIS PAGE?

When you access this web site you immediately see some art work across the top. At left is a photo taken when I was ministering a while ago in Ghana, West Africa. In the middle, of course, is the I.C.R. logo. At right is me under an umbrella with a group of people. This was taken a few years ago when we had a time of prayer on the as yet uncleared land.

FINALLY …

The new building has afforded us more opportunities for ministry and with that added staff and expense. A check (or a credit card donation) to Institute for Christian Renewal will help us continue to bless God and God’s people. And, we want to get that second building erected so people can come and receive in person, in depth, whole person ministry. A check (or a credit card donation) to Ducks on the Pond will help get this building built. Both ministries are 501 (c) (3) non profit organizations so your donations are tax-deductible.

Rich blessings in Jesus,

—Canon Mark A. Pearson

We are excited to be in our new building. So many of you have donated generously, and prayed earnestly!

 True to the New England tradition of “Doing things the hard way”, we had our open house 1 day after the ice storm that devastated our area. We were grateful to our wonderful contractor Mike Danis, not only for the amazing job he did on our building, but also for bringing his own generator to keep the building warm during the festivities!

ICR, and our sister ministry, New creation Healing Center now occupy a 2 story building where we offer a variety of medical services, prayer, counselling and massage therapy. This building is larger than the facility we previously rented, and now both our massage therapist and our psychotherapist have their own treatment rooms.

We are excited to be offering a variety of programs, including a Christian 12 step program called Overcomers to help individuals struggling with a variety of life controlling issues and monthly healing services held at Newton Junction Baptist Church, usually (but not always) on the first Sunday of the month at 2pm. Double check by clicking Ministries and Schedules to the right to find out. On other Sundays when he’s in town, Canon Mark leads worship and usually preaches. Here’s how to get there. Take New Hampshire Route 125 to Kingston. In the southern end of Kingston, just to the south of the new building, there’s a big intersection with traffic lights. Turn onto Newton Junction Road and come 1.3 miles to the Church. If you’re coming from the south, take Interstate 495 to exit 51B and come ahead nearly 7 miles to that intersection, and turn right onto Newton Junction Road.

We are looking forward to the construction of “Building 2″ which will allow us to offer residential programs in house, and allow people to stay for retreats which can offer integrated care to people who come “from away”.

 Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to flesh out the vision God has given to us, and as we rejoice in the things He has done.

January 5, 2008

Because of the generosity of some many ICR Newsletter readers plus some other people who believe in what we’re doing, God willing, we’ll be breaking ground as soon as the New England winter turns to Spring on the first building on our 8 acre site in southeastern New Hampshire. It will hold an expanded out-patient medical, counseling, massage and chaplaincy offices as well as I.C.R.’s home office.

ARE YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW CALLED TO JOIN THE TEAM? With the expanded space we’ll be able to hire professional staff additional to the fifteen wonderful people we already have on board. We need committed Christians who are called, anointed of God, professionally trained and board certified in the following areas:

+family practice medicine. We have a doctor and a nurse practitioner. We would like to hire another doctor;

+counselor / pastoral psychotherapist. We have one already. We would like to hire another one;

+nutritionist.

BUILDING #2. Because of the generosity of so many people we believe ground breaking for building #2 will come sooner than we had thought. And none too soon! We regularly receive calls from people (or from their loved ones or clergy) wanting to come and stay with us for in-residence, loving, whole-person healing ministry. We have to turn everyone away because building #2 which will house them has not been built.

Would you help, please? Donate by credit card now or write as generous a check as you can to Ducks on the Pond (the name of our building project arm) and send it to 80 Route 125, Kingston, NH 03848. Your donation will be much appreciated by us and the people who will be ministered to. And, it’s tax deductible.

Is this you? Is this someone you know? Please contact Dr. Mary Pearson by email at drmarygrace@hotmail.com.

BREAKING NEWS! November 27, 2007

We’ve signed the loan for construction of the first building on our 8 acre site! Building #1 will enable us to move out of our too old, too small and too expensive rental building housing our administrative offices and whole-person healing center and into something new, larger and our own. We’re already working on the design of building #2 which will house a chapel for worship and healing services, a place for larger workshops and conferences, and 15 beds to be used by people coming for in-residence ministry.

We need your help! Would you make a donation by clicking the donate button to the right or write as generous a check as you can to Institute for Christian Renewal (pays salaries, enables Canon Mark to minister in churches and in third world countries that could not afford for him to come, funds printing / mailing the Newsletter) OR a check to Ducks on the Pond (building fund) OR both? Please mail to us at 80 Route 125, Kingston, NH 03848. Thank you so very much.

THE ICR NEWSLETTER

For nearly thirty years we’ve been sending the Institute for Renewal Newsletter to approximately three thousand addresses in the United States.

When we started ICR, we felt strongly that at least half the content of the Newsletter should be teaching articles to help readers in both their walk with and in their work for Christ. Some of these articles have also been published in mass circulation Christian Magazines. A few have even won national awards for religious writing.

Forty of the best of these have been bundled together and published as the book Boot Camp for Christians. (You can order this book from us. See the resources section of this Website.)

If you’d like to get the Newsletter, we’d like to send it to you. It comes out seven times a year. All we ask is that from time to time you pray for this ministry and support the work financially. To start receiving the Newsletter, email us at icrremdawg@yahoo.com and give us your complete “snail mail” address.

If you’d like to read some of the past articles from the Newsletter, please go to the section of our web site called Articles. We’ll be adding additional articles from ICR leaders and friends of the ministry from time to time. So, check back with us. Also, if you wish to respond to any of the articles, we’d love to hear from you. Because of time constraints we can’t guarantee we’ll respond to every em ail we receive, but we do promise to read and take seriously what you write us.

They said the Red Sox would never win the World Series but it happened in 2004! Many said the same about me and a web page … but here it is! Here’s some helpful information about this ministry and answers to the most commonly asked questions. See the list at right called “Pages” and click the appropriate one:

If you’re interested in concise articles on various Christian subjects, click “articles.” We will be adding articles to this section periodically so check out this section from time to time.

If you might be interested in having me come to minister at your church and wonder what workshops I regularly offer, click “workshops and conferences.”

Want to worship with us here in southeastern New Hampshire, either on Sunday or mid week? Want special prayer ministry? Want to see where I will be speaking and ministering in the months ahead in case you or a loved one might be nearby and want to attend? Click “schedule.”

Do you want to buy one of the books I wrote or else purchase other resources we highly recommend to help you or your church? Click “resources.” And, you can order from us, too. In the weeks ahead we hope to be able to offer on-line ordering with credit card payment. For the time being, you’ll have to write out your order and send it along with a check to our office.

And before too long we’re adding a pictoral section where we’ll regularly be posting updated photos of the first building of the healing center going up.

Thanks to those who helped with this web page: my friend Fr. Greg Ortiz who did the entire layout, one of my godchildren Bert Morin who took some of the pictures, and numerous friends of the ministry and board members who helped with various suggestions.

Please pray for me … the Red Sox DID win that world series and I DID start a web page, so with God’s grace anything can happen!

(By the way — the pictures above: at left, I was part of an international consultation on the Christian healing ministry that met in several places including Santiago, Chile and Ghana, West Africa (shown); at right, at least once a month we have prayers on the land where we will be building our healing and teaching center. This photo was taken of some of the two dozen of us praying under umbrellas.)
