About the Pearsons

Canon - Cathy Bates - Sept. 2013 - 3

Canon Mark is a native of Leominster, Massachusetts, the son of the Rev. Deacon Hedley Pearson and Beverly Pearson. He received a bachelors degree cum laude and with honors in History from Williams College in 1971 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He did his theological training at Oxford (Masters degree, 1973) and Virginia Theological Seminary, 1974, and was ordained September 15, 1974. He received his doctorate in the area of Christian Healing ministry from Boston University in 1999.

He is the author of four books and numerous magazine articles.  His hobbies include vegetable gardening, writing and playing music (classical pipe organ) and rooting for his beloved Boston Red Sox. For several  years he taught Church History and Systematic Theology for a satellite campus of St. Michael’s Seminary. He has three adult children as well as four grandchildren and is married to Dr. Mary Pearson (see below).

Mary Pearson

Dr. Mary Pearson was born in Schenectady, New York and raised in nearby Clifton Park. Her undergraduate degree in biology is from Union College, Schenectady and her medical degree is from University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine, Biddeford, Maine. She served her medical internship in Farrell, Pennsylvania and her medical residency in Erie.

Dr. Mary is also a writer and has written on theological and medical ethical issues. She periodically writes articles for the I.C.R. Newsletter and edits all of Canon Mark’s writings. She was principal founder of New Creation Healing Center, and leads it as Chief Operating Officer. She loves to read and enjoys flower and herb gardening. With several others she arranges the flowers for her church and also teaches Sunday School there. Though raised a Yankees fan, she “converted to rooting for the Red Sox for the sake of the marriage”. While this statement has brought skepticism from members of her family, we attest to its veracity!
